About the Role

We’re seeking a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to join our Facilities Maintenance team in Auckland. In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with the SHEQ Manager, operational teams, and key stakeholders to champion a safe, compliant, and positive safety culture across our contract operations.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our health and safety systems, ensuring our people, clients, and contractors are protected and supported in their work environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers and team leaders to embed safety practices and enhance the safety management system.
  • Provide expert SHEQ guidance, ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation and internal standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor environmental and health & safety strategies aligned with organisational goals.
  • Maintain and manage risk registers, ensuring all risks are effectively identified, assessed, and controlled.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and deliver engaging SHEQ training and communications.
  • Support incident investigations, ensuring accurate reporting in line with legal and contractual requirements.
  • Manage and maintain the approved contractor list, fostering strong, compliant relationships.
  • Assist with SHEQ reporting, both internal and external, and support the SHEQ Manager with ad-hoc tasks.

Candidates will need strong interpersonal skills and a genuine keeness for building a culture of safety. Confident across all levels of the organisation, you’re able to influence, support, and drive positive outcomes in a high-risk environment.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • 2 + years’ experience in a high-risk industry such as: Facilities Maintenance, Construction, Manufacturing, Mining, or Logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • A current Full Class 1 NZ driver’s licence.
  • High attention to detail and a professional, proactive attitude.
