Our client offers facilities management solutions to a broad range of sectors throughout Australia and New Zealand and currently have a permanent position available for a SHEQ Manager. This role is based in Auckland.
You will deliver on the SHEQ requirements of the program utilising systems and processes to foster an integrated approach to SHEQ Management in delivering on legal, contractural and buisiness requirements. You will need to be a strategic thinker regarding the business structure and the utilsation of talent within the teams.
- Key Responsibilities
- Managing the implementation of SHEQ Management Plans across the contract.
- Ensuring compliance with legislations, regulations, and standards and that all activities on the project are undertaken in a safe manner, and with the application of suitable frameworks and documentation.
- Undertake, or lead, investigations in relation to safety related incidents or issues and provide recommendations through the contract and business line leadership team.
- Support and partner with operations for delivering adequate SHEQ design, construction and commissioning risk workshops and the execution of work in line with the methodology.
- Implementing processes to ensure communication and compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures including fostering a culture of ‘safety and health above all else’.
- Oversee employee rehabilitation, including Return to Work planning.
- Manage SHEQ communications and general risk management.
- Ensuring risk assessments and risk registers are developed and maintained and all records are managed in accordance with Company requirements.
- Ensuring that the “Critical Risk Protocols” are embedded in the project through Leaders.
- Ensuring all assigned training within the SHEQ capabilities checklists is completed and communicated to the business line.
- Promoting the participation of all people in achieving a safe workplace with zero impact on the environment.
- Develop and review documents aligned to the Quality Systems requirements.
- Utilise data regarding asset disposal, renewal and planned maintenance programs.
- Develop and deliver safety related training, new starter inductions, tool box talks and pre start meetings, campaigns and ad hoc sessions relating to the risk profile.
- Monitor contracts statistical data and report to senior leadership weekly, monthly or at request.
- Deliver the requirements within the Business improvement plan in line with the SHEQ strategy.
- Support the review process of procedures with designated sites and work groups.
- Facilitation of Risk assessments and support in the development of Safe Work Instruction.
- Prepare, communicate and educate employees and contractors of SHEQ requirements and fundamentals.
- Review, onboard and manage SHEQ performance, engagement and compliance requirements for subcontractors.
- Support both internal audit and external audit reviews across the contract.
- Provide medical assistance to injured personnel in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Partner with operations team to ensure any non-conformance or deficiency in SHEQ programs or practices are reviewed and appropriate corrective actions taken to prevent recurrence.
- Communicate and advocate the healthy bodies and healthy minds programs.
- Provide advice and assist the Site Manager to monitor the wellbeing of site personnel (Health and Hygiene).
- Communicate and deliver on the contracts integrated Audit Schedule
About You:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Workplace/Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental or Quality.
- Incident Reporting – ICAM
- Several years’ experience as a safety professional in industrial safety.
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand health & safety and environmental legislation.
- Possess excellent Leadership skills having the personality to deal with the challenges of a large contract.
- Ability to build and maintain a positive team culture including internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to implement and manage a collaborative workplace culture.
- Possess excellent organisational skills.
- Police clearance and working with children is required.
